Born and raised here in Pensacola, Florida, Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Florida and her Master of Arts degree in Reading from the University of West Florida. Melissa taught 6th grade at Ransom Middle School for 6 years before becoming a stay at home mom.

Melissa began serving at Heritage in the student ministry in 1995 and then began serving in the children’s ministry in 1997. She then proceeded to become the part time and, eventually, the full-time Children’s Director in 2004.

She and her husband, Darin Schubeck, have been married for 27 years. They have a daughter, Brianna Smith and son, Justin Schubeck. Melissa hopes to minister to each child by showing them Jesus’ love, helping them begin a personal relationship with Jesus, and also equipping parents to lead their child spiritually and grow in their own relationship with God.
